Quincy Delight Jones Jr. (March 14, 1933 – November 3, 2024) was an American record producer, multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, composer, arranger and film and television producer. His career spanned 70 years, with over 80 Grammy nominations and 28 wins (the third-most by any individual). He produced the three best-selling Michael Jackson albums — Off the Wall (1979), Thriller (1982), and Bad (1987) — defining the sound of pop music for a generation.

Jones first met Michael during the recording of The Wiz (1978), where he was the musical supervisor. The collaboration that followed produced Thriller, the best-selling album of all time with estimated sales of 70 million copies worldwide. He also co-produced “We Are the World” (1985), the all-star charity single co-written by Jackson and Lionel Richie.
