The Jackson 5’s second US tour features around forty shows. The opening act is The Commodores from Tuskegee, Alabama, fronted by an unknown Lionel Richie — a future labelmate and frequent Jackson collaborator (Richie would later co-write “We Are the World” with Michael in 1985).

For security on this tour, the Jacksons hire a former Los Angeles police officer, Bill Bray, as Security Chief. Bray would go on to work with the Jacksons and then Michael for decades, becoming one of his most trusted long-term staff members.
