“Mama’s Pearl” / “Darling Dear”, the Jackson 5’s fifth single, enters the Billboard Hot 100. It peaks at number two (held off the top by Janis Joplin’s “Me and Bobby McGee”), remains on the chart for ten weeks and would later sell more than a million copies. The song was originally titled “Who’s Been Making Whoopie With My Girlfriend” before being reworked for the more child-friendly market the Jackson 5 occupied.
