An animated cartoon series based on the Jackson 5 debuts on ABC-TV. The brothers' speaking voices are not used, but their songs are — with "Mama's Pearl" as the theme tune.

Saturday-morning ABC-TV launches The Jackson 5ive, a Rankin/Bass animated series featuring fictionalised adventures of the brothers. Their speaking voices are performed by other actors, but the show is scored throughout with their Motown recordings, and “Mama’s Pearl” serves as the theme tune. The series ran for two seasons and 23 episodes.
